Independent bids farewell to ‘longest-serving’ staff member

Assistant manager, Linda Smith (pictured left), has retired after more than three decades at independent optical group, Edmonds & Slatter.

Ms Smith, who joined the company in 1986, the same year that it was established, began as a part-time receptionist, progressing over the years to optical assistant, group administration manager, and, most recently, assistant manager of the group’s Lutterworth practice.

Reflecting on her time at Edmonds & Slatter, Ms Smith said she would miss the patients that she has built a strong rapport with over the years, adding that many have become friends over the years.

She told OT: “I will also miss the laughs with all the staff – as a company we have always had great fun at our social events. I have always maintained that you work as a team and would never ask someone to do something I wouldn’t do myself.”
