When you're shortlisting candidates, what's the very first thing that you look for?

If the person showcases a unique perspective and feels like a natural fit for Ace & Tate's style of working.

How important is the cover letter in applications that you receive?

In our process it's not mandatory to add a cover letter, but we do ask the question "Why do you want to work for Ace & Tate?" in our application form. The answer to this question can be short and sweet and it is something we look at when shortlisting candidates.

What's the biggest mistake that someone can make in an interview for Ace & Tate?

Who doesn't make mistakes? A mistake sounds a little harsh, but not showing up, or coming late to an interview without having communicated about it, would be a red flag.

How do you go about ensuring fairness and equality in your hiring process? Do you have specific programmes in place?

At Ace & Tate we are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to nurturing an inclusive environment for all current and potential employees.

We have described this in our Code of Ethics. This year we became a B-Corp and in order to get this certification, we need to adhere to different environmental and social responsibilities. Inclusive and non-biased hiring practices were part of this certification and are something we comply with.

We still use CVs, but it's not mandatory to add a picture or any personal data like age, gender or nationality in your application. This is not something we look at in our selection process. We welcome everyone to apply – just leave your egos at the door.

Next to that, standardised scorecards help us to get an objective view of the candidate throughout the interview process so we can compare candidates on the same topics.

A new employee is preparing for their first week at Ace & Tate. What tip would you give them to be successful?

Enjoy getting to know your new colleagues and new role. Take things one step at a time while soaking up all the new information and don't be afraid to ask (a lot of) questions or for any help you might need. We're there for you to make sure you have a smooth and fun start.
