A wellbeing day for optometrists will be held in Northampton in May.

Optometrist and life coach, Sheena Tanna-Shah (pictured), shared that colleagues and family members are also welcome to attend the M-eye-ndful Wellbeing Day.

The event will cover mindfulness and meditation, yoga flow for all levels, essential oils for stress and anxiety and iridology.

There will be guest speakers, alongside a dinner with live music.

Ms Tanna-Shah has previously spoken to OT about the importance of wellbeing in the workplace.

When asked how she applies mindfulness in her work, Ms Tanna-Shah said that for her it comes down to her daily interactions with patients and colleagues.

“I started practising mindfulness in terms of focusing on that patient as an individual and really engaging in talking with them,” she highlighted.

“My husband, who is also an optometrist, is very bubbly and he was doing that all the time. He seemed to be really enjoying his job so I took a leaf out of his book,” Ms Tanna-Shah said.

All proceeds raised through the M-eye-ndful Wellbeing Day, which will be held at the Moulton Community Centre in Northampton on 3 May from 1–5.30pm, will go to Sightsavers.

To arrange tickets (early bird price £15), contact Ms Tanna-Shah on 07792 287854.
