Pre-reg optometrist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Tamara Hasan, discusses how she secured a hospital pre-reg and her experiences to date

When I first heard about the pre-reg period during my second year at university, it sounded like it would be a hard year. What was worse, I dreaded the prospect of applying and being interviewed all over again, just like I had done prior to university. It wasn’t long after that we were thrown into group assessments that were held by multiples such as Specsavers and Vision Express. As it was so early on in my second year, I was not successful in landing interviews for any of the large multiples. However, this motivated me to look further and prepare harder.
