A new Master’s course targeting optometrists will be offered from September by Moorfields Eye Hospital and the University College London Institute of Ophthalmology.
The course is one of a suite of Master’s programmes on offer for allied health professionals, including a course announced earlier in the year for nurses that optometrists are also eligible to apply for.
The Advanced Clinical Optometry and Ophthalmology MSc has been developed by practising clinicians and includes a mixture of online learning and contact days.
By the end of the programme, students will have received training in the various subspecialties of ophthalmology and optometry.
A launch event on 9 May will provide prospective students with more information about the programme.
Moorfields Eye Hospital chief executive, David Probert, said that the course would help equip the ophthalmic workforce for future eye health challenges.
“Optometrists play a vital role in delivering best care for our patients and they will have an even bigger role to play in the future,” he shared.
Those interested in finding out more about the course can register for the launch event online, which takes place between 7pm and 10pm at the Museum of the Order of St John.
