Moorfields Eye Hospital and the University College London’s (UCL) Institute of Ophthalmology will offer a new Master’s course for nurses, allied health professionals and optometrists from this September.
A release from Moorfields and UCL highlighted that the ophthalmic clinical practice MSc will address the need for advanced practitioners in an ophthalmic clinical setting.
It will enhance their knowledge of common eye diseases and current ophthalmic research, helping clinicians to progress into more advanced ophthalmic practice roles.
Director of nursing and allied health professions at Moorfields, Tracy Luckett, said: “The launch of this exciting programme is a further example of our commitment to develop and extend the critical roles of nurses and allied health professionals in ophthalmic care.”
Although the course has been developed with a focus on nursing, a Moorfields spokesperson confirmed that optometrists would be eligible to apply for the mainly online programme.
