The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has made the first appointments towards delivering its new vision science programme at its School of Medicine.
Former course leader and principal lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, Rupal Lovell-Patel, has been appointed as course leader.
Ms Lovell-Patel joins past president of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians, Peter Black, and senior lecturer, Marie-Laure Orr.
Head of the UCLan School of Medicine, Professor Cathy Jackson, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rupal, Peter and Marie to UCLan and look forward to being able to offer these programmes as part of our ongoing commitment to help provide the healthcare workforce ready to meet the needs of patients for generations to come.”
UCLan will provide a MSc in optometry and a BSc in ophthalmic dispensing, which is subject to approval from the General Optical Council.
