Returning to work: An experience shared
Optometrist and What Lizzy Loves lifestyle blogger, Lizzy Yeowart, shares her experiences of returning to work after a career break
Optometrist Lizzy Yeowart is currently preparing to return to the testing room, having taken an eight-year career break in order to raise her two children.
Ms Yeowart begun the processes required to return to work in June and is hoping to begin practising again in September. These steps have so far included applying for restoration with the General Optical Council and meeting the necessary CET requirements, having an advanced disclosure and barring check, completing safeguarding training and applying for the NHS Performers List.
Sharing her decision to return to work and reflecting on the process, she said: “It has not been a hard process, but it has been a little bit daunting and a little bit nerve-racking.”
“I now can’t wait to return to work,” she added.
