City student becomes first to complete contact lens certificate
Avnish Rosunee has become the first person eligible to use the Higher Cert CL affix in the UK

A City, University of London student has become the first optometrist in the UK to pass the Professional Higher Certificate in Contact Lens Practice.
The university announced that Avnish Rosunee (pictured) has been awarded the higher professional certificate by the College of Optometrists and becomes the first person eligible to use the Higher Cert CL post-nominal letters in the UK.
Module leader at City, Dr Byki Huntjens, said: “Since 2015, we have run this course twice and Avnish is the first optometrist to complete the portfolio and viva voce following successful completion of the OSCEs and written exam.”
The qualification covers a range of topics including the ability to detect, assess and manage the impact of contact lens complications on the eye.
Mr Rosunee also completed an MSc in Clinical Optometry at City, University of London.
