This year’s line-up includes keynote speakers from the US, as well as the UK, for the event which is being held 5–6 July at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
Organisers confirmed that US optometrist, Dr Gary Gerber, founder of practice building and consulting company, The Power Practice, will open the meeting with his presentation, How to avoid drowning in a sea of sameness. Dr Gerber will also close the event with a presentation entitled, The four disciplines of execution, which aims to help focus delegates on taking action from what they have learned at the event.
Returning to the programme is the first ever iDay keynote speaker, Andy Clark (pictured), who will present The heart of independence. He will introduce the five factors that he has found most successful independents have in common, which includes offering differentiated services.
Mr Clark will also chair a session where leading UK practice owners, who have 'walked the talk', will share how they have successfully commercialised a range of niche services.
Entitled, How I've carved out my niche, the session will feature Dr Trusit Dave on speciality contact lenses, Alisdair Buchanan on advanced retinal care, Nick Dash on dry eye clinics, Jim Green on sports vision, and Jonathan Foreman on lifestyle dispensing.
PTR director, David Goad, told OT: “Once again our speakers will reveal what works well and what doesn’t, to ensure delegates take home some real wisdom on how to implement any of these niche services for maximum success.”
Fellow director, Nick Atkins, added: “More than ever before, the combination of innovative and thought-provoking presentations, the independent-to-independent peer group interaction and simply getting people away from the coalface to think about their business, I believe will motivate delegates to go back re-energised to make improvements to their business.”
