New Year, new look?
2016 is nearly here and, to kickstart the year ahead, OT 's January edition will investigate next year's fashion potential
17 December 2015
As the start of 2016 approaches, it is increasingly hard to avoid the articles and news stories heralding the need for fresh starts, boot camps and ‘clean eating.’
In the January edition of OT, we have been inspired by the link-up between fashion and eyewear, bringing together an international selection of designers and experts to share their views on what 2016 might have in store.
One expert who knows her couture is Marie Wilkinson (pictured), design director at UK style pioneer Cutler and Gross. Having started out life as an ambitious dispensing optician who “wanted to create and dispense beautiful glasses,” Ms Wilkinson shares her fascinating career journey with OT, including making frames for pop icon Grace Jones.
Eyewear galore is promised at 100% Optical’s February 2016 show – but equipment providers are very much in evidence too. OT has been speaking to Heidelberg Engineering, Haag-Striet and Carl Zeiss for their plans at the event.
Turning back to 2015, OT understands that hundreds of registrants on the GOC’s registers are still to gain or accept their points on their MyGOC account for the 2013–15 cycle. For those members chasing competencies, OT has a whopping 18 CET exams that are live on the website until 23 December. This bundle includes videos on Handling patients with mobility problems and Iritis, both of which offer an interactive CET point.
