LOCSU Student Engagement session

A session aimed at students or newly qualified primary care staff introducing them to the aim, work and output of LOCs and LOCSU. The session will outline the types of work undertaken by LOCs and why this is important to all contractors and performers. In addition, the work will be contextualised through an outline of current NHS structures as well as an introduction to current NHS reforms.

There will be an interactive Q&A to allow delegates to ask questions around any aspect of the discussion.

The session will led by Richard Whittington alongside a panel of different LOC and sector body reps.

Richard joined LOCSU as Assistant Director, Commissioning, in June 2016 from the NHS, was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in November 2016, then went on to be appointed as Chief Executive Officer in 2019.

He is an experienced CCG Director and Acute Trust Director with extensive commissioning and service redesign experience across a range of specialties and contexts the most notable being commissioning a range of eyecare services across a number of London boroughs and PCT / CCGs.

Richard has worked in and across all healthcare and care sectors and has a particular expertise in service change, organisational change and commissioning service delivery.
