GOS claims are commonly misunderstood and a source of worry for practitioners and practice owners. This webinar aims to give participants the practical knowledge to avoid future problems and claim appropriately and confidently.
This session will explain in detail the mechanism for claiming GOS vouchers, eligibility of patients and where the information is found. With examples from GOC hearings and payment verification investigations the common failings will be discussed to help practitioners understand when and what to claim.
There will be emphasis on minimum sight test frequency and eligibility for GOS3 or GOS4 vouchers including supplements as these are commonly misunderstood as well as how to record all claims appropriately.

Dr Peter Hampson
Dr Peter Hampson is an AOP board member and clinical director. He is Co-Chair of the OC Information and IT committee and teaches the WOPEC postgraduate module Legal Aspects of UK Optometry. He is an adviser to LOCSU on Information governance and IT and has recently obtained his Doctor of Optometry from Aston University.
Kevin Wallace
Kevin Wallace is an IP optometrist in independent practice in Edinburgh. He is also Clinical Advisor to the AOP, Optometric Advisor to NHS Lothian and has been an AOP Councillor for 9 years. He has a particular interest in the legal aspects of clinical practice, particularly the GOS regulations, and in providing guidance for practitioners to protect themselves against complaints before they happen.
Brian McKeown
Brian McKeown is an Independent Prescribing Optometrist working in the community. He runs a group of Independent Practices in Northern Ireland. Brian is the Northern Ireland councillor for the AOP and has a seat on the Optometry Northern Ireland council. He is very much involved in the daily running of an Optometry business which includes both private and NHS work.
