BiB Ophthalmic Instruments introduces HandyRefract
The handheld binocular trial lens holder can be used to support quick refraction checks
23 April 2021
BiB Ophthalmic Instruments has introduced the new HandyRefract binocular trial lens holder to support optometrists with a “quick and handy refraction check.”
Developed by UK-based dispensing optician, Chris Boyde, the HandyRefract tool aims to provide a low-cost, handheld and lightweight binocular trial lens holder.
The HandyRefract features an arm that is positioned to enable either the optometrist or the patient to hold the tool in their hand. It also includes two sprung front cells, fully-rotational with axis markings to make lens insertion “quick and easy.” Both sprung cells can be removed for cleaning.
Introducing the trial lens holder, BiB Ophthalmic Instruments outlined that the tool is ideal for demonstrating spectacle prescriptions and reading additions, as well as for an over refraction with contact lenses or a spectacle prescription. It could also be used for introducing cyls over spherical contact lenses.
The company suggested the tool can be beneficial for use in the consulting room, dispensing area or in domiciliary settings.
