Specsavers plans to open 200 optometry practices in Canada by 2024, following the acquisition of British Colombia-based company, Image Optometry.
The multiple launched its first Canadian stores in November 2021, with the aim of opening 16 practices in British Colombia by March 2022. The first two stores to open were based in Woodgrove Centre Nanaimo and Coquitlam Centre, both in British Colombia.
Specsavers currently has a presence in the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Australia and New Zealand.
At the end of February 2021, the multiple had 2293 optical and audiology stores worldwide. Specsavers last entered a new market in 2008 when stores were opened in Australia and New Zealand.
Specsavers Canada general manager, Bill Moir, shared that the company aims to transform eye health for Canadians.
“By creating business ownership opportunities for independent optometrists, Specsavers is able to build a network that is represented in rural and urban locations and can structure operations in a way that generates high value for both optometrists and customers,” he said.
