Station Road Opticians in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, has raised £500 for a local foodbank through a charity cocktail evening.
Held to raise funds for Chelwood Foodbank Plus, the event was attended by 50 clients and supporters of the independent practice.
Deepak Oberai, director at Station Road Opticians, said of the evening: “Our charity cocktail event surpassed our expectations.”
“It was a fun night for everyone who came, but above all, together we raised £500 for Chelwood Foodback Plus. This will go a long way towards their mission of fighting food poverty in the Stockport community,” he added.
Monica Doval, the UK brand ambassador for the independent Belgium eyewear designer, Theo Eyewear, joined the evening as a special guest.
A local DJ and photographer donated their time for the event, while the venue – Inventory in Cheadle Hulme – “went above and beyond to support our efforts,” Oberai explained.
Chelwood Foodbank Plus has provided practical help for local people facing food poverty since 2013.
The foodbank team expressed their gratitude for the donation, with Linzie Hogan, manager of the foodbank, commenting: “At this time of year it is such a great gesture by a local business and the money will go a long way.”
