The Association of Optometrists (AOP) has announced that as part of its 2019 CET and professional development programme, practitioners will now be able to arrange CET-accredited AOP professional development courses at their practice.
Dr Ian Beasley, AOP’s Head of Education, said: “We know that many professionals are looking for increasingly flexible approaches to education. By providing practices with the opportunity to arrange training at their premises we hope to fill a need for interactive CET at a time and place that suits the practitioner. It’s also a great opportunity to bring the team together.”
Practitioners interested in arranging training can choose between four courses, including new titles: Negotiation skills, and Managing effective teams. Each course is worth up to 15 interactive CET points.
Alongside this, the Association’s legal education has also been refreshed for 2019, with new legal seminars combining clinical negligence with either regulatory issues or employment matters. Popular peer discussions and locum events will also return to locations across the country.
In another first, the Hospital Optometrists Annual Conference (HOAC) will take place in Belfast this year. Dr Beasley explained: “The AOP’s programme aims to cover as much of the UK as possible between now and the end of the three-year CET cycle in December 2021. We’ll also be developing our webinars and online CET further, offering practitioners more ways than ever to keep their skills up to date.”
Online booking is now open for peer discussions and legal seminars taking place up until July, while conferences will open for booking once programmes are confirmed. All other events can be booked up to a year in advance. To find out more and reserve your place, visit the AOP’s event listing page.
