Optometry Today  launches CET Survival Pack

Optometry Today  (OT ) is launching a CET Survival Pack on 1 November to help practitioners meet their education requirements before the end of the CET cycle

Optometry Today (OT), the journal of the Association of Optometrists (AOP), is launching a CET Survival Pack on 1 November to help practitioners meet their education requirements before the end of the CET cycle.

The current three-year CET cycle will end at midnight on 31 December and, with no grace period being given, practitioners must meet the cycle’s 36 point and competency requirements before the deadline.

To assist AOP members and OT subscribers, OT has brought together eight online CET exams from the current cycle that cover all the competencies required for optometrists, dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians, and five of the eight competencies required of therapeutic optometrists. New multiple-choice questions have been created for each exam in line with the General Optical Council’s (GOC’s) requirements.

Dr Ian Beasley, OT Clinical Editor and AOP Head of Education, said: “The pack has been created in recognition of the fact that many practitioners may well have met their points total by this stage of the cycle but are perhaps in need of one or two competencies in order to meet the GOC’s requirements.”

OT’s CET Survival Pack will be available via OT’s CET pages from 1 November until midnight 26 December. AOP members and OT subscribers can check how many CET points they have gained through OT by visiting their MyAOP
