Practice Manual
A good source of information for preparing a practice manual is the Quality in Optometry website, which provides access to a full range of supportive material for all aspects of contract compliance. The contract compliance issues are presented in the same format as the inspection pro-formas used by most PCTs. There are links to sample policies in Word format and these are all up to date. If you put all this information together, you will have effectively created your own, bespoke, practice manual. You can add any practice specific policies you have e.g. protocols on handling post, ordering, receipts etc. Whilst these are not needed for GOS compliance, they can be helpful references for new staff or can demonstrate to HMR&C that you do always give VAT receipts etc.
