Optometry Giving Sight is our International Charity of Choice; it is at the forefront of Optometry’s efforts to end refractive error blindness by the year 2020.

The World Health Organisation announced that uncorrected refractive error is the leading form of preventable blindness and vision impairment worldwide. It is vital for optometry, as a profession, to lead the way in eliminating this problem.

Optometry Giving Sight gives the profession an opportunity to make a real and sustainable difference.

The AOP endorses Optometry Giving Sight, but we do not give any of our membership fees (your money) to the charity.  It is up to you, as optometrists, to get behind its fundraising efforts and make them successful.

Just £2.50 could provide someone in the developing world with an eye exam and a pair of glasses
