AOP Professional Defence and Insurance

The AOP's Professional Defence and Insurance cover is tailor-made for optometrists and dispensing opticians as an integral part of their AOP membership. We cover individual optometrists and dispensing opticians whatever their mode of practice and whether they are employed, self-employed, an employer or a locum. We can also provide vicarious liability cover for lay-owned practices whose optometrists are AOP members.

The AOP cover for individual AOP members is focused on protecting them and their reputation and right to practise.

There are two elements to the AOP's cover: Professional Defence Assistance and Medical Professional Liability Insurance.
