PATIENT CHARGES IN THE HOSPITAL SERVICE

On 30 November 2006 the Department of Health published new guidance on charges and vouchers in the Hospital Service. This guidance can be downloaded from the DoH website click here

BACKGROUND

Department of Health (DH) regulations relating to the application of the NHS spectacle voucher scheme in the Hospital Service were previously issued in the circular reference HC(89)12 which was effective from 1st April 1989 until it was cancelled on 1st April 1993.

No guidance was in place in the interim period (1993 to 2006).
