Council Elections

Electronic Voting

Elections will take place between 2-23 March to elect optometrists in the following constituencies to serve on the AOP Council from this May.

2 London

3 North West England

5 South West England and West Midlands

6 Yorkshire and The Humber and North East England

In accordance with a decision of the Board of Directors at its meeting on 15 September 2010, the elections will be conducted electronically. They will  be conducted by Electoral Reform Services (ERS) who will email all voting optometrist members whose email addresses we have in each constituency where elections are being held.

Currently we have email addresses from the following percentage of members in each constituency due for election:

2 London – 84%

3 North West England – 75%

5 South West England and West Midlands – 75%

6 Yorkshire and The Humber and North East England – 76%

Members with voting addresses in the following postcode areas are entitled to vote in the constituency in which their postcode is situated:

To vote, the AOP will require your email address

If you wish to participate in the election and you have not already given your email address to the AOP, please email your email address together with your name and AOP membership number to Steven King (email: stevenking@aop.org.uk) with the subject heading “Council Elections 2012 – Email address”. We shall put your email address on our membership database and forward your email address to ERS to send you voting information. The sooner we receive members’ email addresses the greater opportunity those members will have of participating in the elections.

The following optometrist members are not entitled to vote in the elections: Retired Members, Non-practising Honorary Members, student optometrists.

The next election for the Dispensing Opticians’ representative on Council will be held in 2013.
