Finding a pre-registration training place

The following information is to help students find pre-registration training places and our .pdf file “Students looking for pre-reg places” lists students who are looking for pre-reg places to help them find training places and to help optometrists who are looking for pre-registration trainees to find them.

The .pdf file “Seeking pre-registration training” is a guide to how to go about finding training places.

The .pdf file “Pre-registration year action pack” covers how to approach the pre-reg interview and what to expect during the pre-reg year. This booklet is soon to be updated to be more specific about the new post-graduate training scheme for optometrists.

The .pdf file “Students looking for pre-reg places” is an Excel spreadsheet listing students looking for pre-registration training places, it gives their name, contact e-mail address, the date they wish to start their pre-registration training, the area in which they wish to do their training, and the university they attended. The spreadsheet can be sorted under any of these headings. Optometrists seeking pre-registration trainees may contact them via their e-mail addresses. Students and supervisors are asked to inform the AOP (e-mail  Linda Marriott at lindamarriott@aop.org.uk)  when a student on the list has found a pre-registration training place so that we can remove their name from the list. Students names will be removed at the end of the year (December) in which they have indicated they wish to start their pre-registration training. NOTE. Students should not rely on this website listing alone to find pre-registration training places, it should be used as a back-up to the other ways of finding training places, which are set out in “Seeking pre-registration training”, see above.
